Howdy! My name is Ben Raskin and I’m running for Salt Lake City Council. District 7 is the soul of the city, and I need your help to preserve our neighborhood’s unique legacy while building for the future. I’m a former small business owner, bartender, and newspaper stringer who currently works as a communications writer for USANA Health Sciences. As a long-term resident of Sugar House, I’m ready to serve the citizens of Salt Lake City.
District 7 is the sweetest neighborhood in Utah. We’re home to Highland High and Westminster College. There’s incredible restaurants, breweries, book stores, and bike trails in the district. Sprague Library has been reborn, and we have two of Utah’s greatest parks: Sugar House and Fairmont. It’s an extraordinary place to live, and we need to preserve, protect, and promote this wonderful community.
As your city councilman, I’ll work to create a Sugar House Business Alliance, stop unnecessary TRAX expansion down Highland Drive, and provide compassionate solutions to homelessness. Nonstop construction threatens the charm of our neighborhood. Let’s fight back with increased murals, expanded farmer markets, concerts in the park, and street festivals to celebrate our community.
But my role as your city councilman doesn’t end at District 7’s borders. I will fight for all Salt Lakers to invest in our public servants, protect our air and water, champion small businesses, and provide real solutions to our traffic issues. I’ll work tirelessly to build partnerships throughout the valley to improve the quality of life for all Utahns.
I’m here to listen, to learn, and to lead. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work.
